In search of the fountain of youth…

Have you ever noticed how French people always seem to stay super skinny no matter what they eat? My daughter recently got back from a university exchange program and couldn’t understand how all her French friends were so naturally lean. They did everything wrong. Drinking lots of red wine and coffee and adding butter and cream to everything, it made no sense to her!

It is true that some people are blessed with perfect genetics but the rest of us still have the power to slow the aging process as well!

A numbers game: calorie counting

One proven way of slowing down the aging process is through calorie restriction, more commonly known as portion control. To be effective, you need to cut down the amount you are eating by at least 30%. Unfortunately, not used to the smaller portions, your body sees calorie restrictions as an unwanted stress. This can result in problems such as fatigue, aggression and loss of libido.

A natural alternative:

An interesting study of mice showed that an ingredient found in grape skins and thus in red wine called resveratrol could protect overfed mice from diabetes and other age related diseases. So does that mean the perfect anti-aging solution in the form of red wine has been under our noses all along? Unfortunately not! You see, a bottle of red wine only contains 2-3mg of resveratrol, far less than the 140mg given to the mice! But nature still had the right idea, it just needed a helping hand. My personal favourite anti-aging formula contains resveritrol and a number of other powerful natural herbs to help you defy the aging process.

Enjoy Life,

Dr Pete

PS. Having just given talks in Melbourne and Hobart on this topic, I would like to thank CPA Australia for inviting me and being such a wonderful audience!
